In separate messages to Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko and Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin on Thursday, Larijani expressed condolences to Russian lawmakers on the loss of their compatriots in the St. Petersburg attack.
In his message to Matviyenko, the Iranian speaker said occurrence of terrorist attacks in different parts of the world reveals that the threat of terrorism has no boundaries and jeopardizes the security and stability of all nations, and that fighting it requires joint efforts by the international community.
In the letter to Volodin, the Iranian speaker hailed the good results of cooperation between Tehran and Moscow in the fight against terrorism on peace, security and stability in West Asia.
A 22-year-old born in the former Soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan has been accused of carrying out the Monday attack that killed 14 people in St. Petersburg.
