Syrian Army backed by Russian airstrikes seize strategic point near Tiyas Airbase in East Homs

The Syrian Armed Forces, backed by the fearless Desert Hawks fighters and Russian airstrikes, managed on Friday to seize the deserted battalion (some 8 km to the northwest of the Tiyas Airbase (T4).

AhlulBayt News Agency - The Syrian Armed Forces, backed by the fearless Desert Hawks fighters and Russian airstrikes, managed on Friday to seize the deserted battalion (some 8 km to the northwest of the Tiyas Airbase (T4).

The position was taken by the self-proclaimed Islamic State (ISIS) last Tuesday, and served as a launch pad to bomb the airbase with artillery and homegrown rockets.

The Airbase bears exceptional importance due to its huge operational capacity and the strategic location in central Syria.

Having lost two strongholds in Palmyra and al-Qaryatayn, The terror group is on a landslide offensive against government forces in the gas-rich area of Shaer and the Tiyas airbase.
