According to IBNA correspondent quoting from the public relations office of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), Professor Sami’ei was accompanied by a team of international neurosurgeons visiting Yazd in central Iran which has numerous sites remaining from a grand civilization.
The Professor was warmly received by the people of Yazd and personally described historical and architectural features of the city to his foreign colleagues.
Born in 1937 in Rasht, a major city in the north of Iran, Professor Sami’i left Iran for Germany after high school graduation to study medical sciences and received his M.D. Degree in neurosurgery in 1970. He took great steps in studying neurosurgery and wrote numerous books and articles on this subject.
He has been the chairman of the International Society for Neurosurgery, the founder of International neurosurgery Institute in Hanover, Germany and the founding president of the Congress of International Neurosurgeons (MASCIN) in 2003. Sami’ei has been honored and awarded in several international medical events including in Hanover where he was awarded the "World Physician" prize by former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder.
