The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, hosted the US Deputy Department of State, Brett H. McGurk, and the US Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Beecroft, at his office in Baghdad on Monday.
A statement by the SIIC cited ''The meeting tackled the political updates in Iraq and the recent security crisis.''
''Hakim assured the necessity of facing the severe terrorist attack through unity and unifying national stances,'' the statement concluded.
