Syrian analyst criticizes US media’s propaganda against Imam Khamenei's Fatwa

A senior Syrian analyst of the international affairs criticized on Thursday the US media’s propaganda against the famous and historic Fatwa of the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemning the production and possession of the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In an exclusive interview with IRNA at New Delhi, Dr. Waiel Awwad said: The anti-Iran media and other lobbies in the US which do not want to see any kind of rapprochement between Iran and the US are propagating against the Fatwa of the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei which condemns the production and possession of the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) including the nuclear ones.

Condemning the anti-Iran section of the US media, he said: certain sections of the US media are there to tarnish Iran`s image and not let the US government believe in Ayatollah Ali Khameneis Fatwa which terms the production and possession of the nuclear weapons as “un-Islamic”.

On the US president Barak Obama’s outreach to Iran during his speech at the UN General Assembly, the president of the Delhi-based Foreign Correspondents` Club of South Asia (FCC), said: “I believe that Iranian’s consistency, frankness and non-interference in the internal affairs of its neighbors based on mutual respects has led a glimpse of hope that the US policy toward Iran is changing.”

Advising the US to look after its own interests rather than following the Zionist Regime’s policy on Iran, he said: the US policy should be based on its own interests not Israel centric as Iran is a regional power and an important player in the international affairs.”

Rejecting the war as the best option to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue, Dr. Awwad said: “War has never been the best solution to any crisis as it creates more destruction and loss of lives. US must learns that they can not take the world as its own and the unilateral actions will not serve any propose.”

“Other lessons from the regional players like the Lebanese resistance and the Syrian crisis are good to tell that war is not the best option .In the case of Iran it will be more complicated and catastrophic,” the seasoned analyst added.

On the possibility of an improvement in the ties between Iran and US after the addresses of Mr. Hassan Rouhani and Mr. Barak Obama at the UN General Assembly, Dr. Awwad said: “The relation between Iran and the US should go beyond the handshakes and exchange of smiles. It is a long process to establish trust and take a step towards building confidence and then sitting across the table on equal footing. Then one can expect a breakthrough.”

Terming the impact of any rapprochement between Iran and the US on the geopolitical map of the Middle East as “huge”, he said: It seems that any rapprochement between the US and Iran will have a huge impact on the future of Afghanistan after the 2014 withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan. The Syrian crisis may also be heading toward a peaceful solution if the US apply pressure on its regional players to stop supporting, funding and training of the mercenaries fighting against the Syrian government.”

“The paradigm shift now will be noticed in the Arabian Peninsula and it will be interesting to watch the development”, he added.
