International Civil Aviation Organization urged to use Persian Gulf historical name

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has underlined the need to use ˈPersian Gulfˈ historical name instead of forged ˈArab Gulfˈ.In response to a letter of protest sent by Iran to the Organization, the ICAO Secretary General Raymond Benjamin issued a circular to prevent repetition of such mistakes, Head of Iranˈs Civil Aviation Organization Hamid Reza Pahlevani said.He regretted that the ICAO publications have sometimes used the forged name of Arab Gulf in the past years, underscoring the need to make use of Persian Gulf instead.Iranˈs permanent representative to the ICAO and countryˈs Civil Aviation Organization have therefore protested against the issue, Pahlevani said.Iran, in its letter, has urged ICAO not to repeat such mistakes, said the official. /129
