Iraq: Maliki and Nujaifi succeed ... disagreement solved

Iraq top political and religious figures (Shia & Sunni) came together on Saturday evening, for a gathering that has been called for since late 2011, but continually delayed.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Reported news from the symbolic meeting room in Baghdad that took place on Saturday stated that the dispute between Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki and Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi was solved.

The meeting was held at the home of Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Shiite political party, the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), in Baghdad.

The leader of the Islamic Council who hosted the parties, succeeded in reconciliation of Maliki and Nujaifi.

Hakims hold a symbolic meeting attended by most of the political leaders last night.

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, embraced parliament speaker Osama al-Nujaifi, in a move symbolising an aim to reduce tensions in the country.

Maliki and Nujaifi did not comment on what happened, immediately.

Sayyed Ammar al-Hakim , the head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq , has insisted on the political leaders who attend the symbolic meeting to issuing " A Word of Honer'.His eminence assured in his speech during the meeting that he called for earlier “The meeting will not result in issuing a statement or a code of honor rather the patriotic political leaders will give a word of honor to settle the disputes to lead Iraq forward disputes the impediments.”

"The Word of honor will confirm adherence to the constitution, prohibiting Iraqis’ bloods, confronting terrorism and racism and all violations for law in addition to keeping on the dialogues always,” said Sayyed al-Hakim.

Hakim’s meeting was attended by Vice-President , Vice-Prime Ministers , ministers, MPs and religious leaders, including the heads of Sunni and Shiite endowments, while the Shiite leader , Muqtada al-Sadr and head of al-Iraqiya coalition, Iyad Allawi didn’t attend the meeting.
