A day-long seminar themed Islam and Globalization kicked off Saturday at Hamdard Convention Center, Hamdard University in New Delhi.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Inaugurating the seminar, jointly organized by International Almostafa University (IAU) of Iran and Hamdard University, Dr Gholam Reza Mahdavi, President of IAU said: “This seminar is about continuation of scientific cooperation between both Islamic universities of Iran and India. Today one of the most important tasks of universities and scientific institutions is dealing with the challenges which occur in human daily life and little by little become major social or even international problems”.

He said "We are all aware of globalization, though the issue of globalization has long record of the history of human society but in its new form it’s a little more than three decades which has been entered into political and social literature."

“In facing up the globalization, under the influence in its new form, now we are as Muslims come across new challenges. The Islam’s attitude towards human and managing human society is a world view, and basically since Islam is in harmony with humans nature, we Muslims believe that it has a world mission and in many cases Holy Quran addresses people including all humans and even in our view consequences of human life is a promising end in a peaceful space and the life of all human is under the umbrella of one government which is its most significant characteristics in social justice,” Mahdavi noted.

He further noted "We believe that God has promised that the pious men will inherit the earth, all of these beliefs indicate that global thinking and globalization is a promising desire for all humans. However this fact can not be ignored that today globalization through the priority of communication technology and also integration of politics and economy tends to dominate, liberalism and secularism values over the religious and Islamic values, underlined Iranian official.

“Ideas such as new middle East which is along with war and destruction of civilization infrastructures in an area that is a cradle of Islam, and continuous threats against Iran indicate that economic and industrial powers of the world are trying to impose their values on other nations even by force or through military power. In these circumstances how can we Muslims change the threats to chances for development and civilization, while preserving our identities and values,” Mahdavi questioned.

The President of Almostafa University hoped that this seminar would try to answer this big question and look for solutions.

The seminar was attended by eminent academicians including Mohsen Pakparvar, Deputy Chief of Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Firdous Ahmad Wani, Registrar, Jamia Hamdard University and Prof. Ishtiyaque Danish, Head Department of Islamic Studies, Hamdard University.
