User access to anti-Islam film blocked in Chechnya

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Internet providers in the Chechen Republic have blocked user access to the anti-Islam film Innocence of Muslims on YouTube, Chechnya's acting prosecutor Sharpudi Abdulkadyrov told Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya.

According to Kadyrov's press service, Abdulkadyrov said the only provider that blocked user access to the film before September 24 was Orange and the other providers representing MTS, Megafon, and Vympelcom were invited to the prosecutor's office, where they were urged to block user access to the film.

Providers who will fail to block user access to the film may be subjected to administrative liability, Abdulkadyrov said.

Abdulkadyrov also said the providers Vainakhtelecom, Chechen Cell Communications, and the federal state unitary enterprise Elektrosvyaz blocked user access to the film in the first half of September 24.

Kadyrov hailed the information on the blocking of user access to the film.

"We all heard what Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier said about this film and the actions by those who made it. This film was shot for provocation reasons. No doubt, we support those who have protested the film and its publication on the Internet. At the same time, we believe the measures taken by the Russian administration and Prosecutor General's Office to evaluate this film and restrict user access to it had a positive effect and were approved by Muslims and all people of Russia," Kadyrov said.
