Iraqi Sunni scholars Inherited "Quran by Quran" Interpretation Method from Imam Sadegh (AS)

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “Quran by Quran” interpretation method is a precious legacy left to Quran scholars and interpreters by Imam Sadeq (AS).This is according to Sheikh Faleh Al-Shoraifi, Iraqi Sunni scholar, who also said that this method emanates from Vahy (revelation).Describing Imam Sadeq (AS) as a great contributor to the Muslim communities’ guidance and promotion of religion and science, he restated that, “even we [Sunni Muslims] are heavily indebted to the Imam (AS) as he made all-out efforts to promote the elevated teachings of the Holy Quran and Islam”.He added the Imam (AS) attached great importance to the memorization of the Holy Quran for he believed that this is the only way with which a society can be reformed.Attaching great value to the educational aspect of Quranic verses while interpreting the Holy Book, he noted that such a method was developed by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the infallibles (AS) and today we Muslims ought to follow his role model and attempt to propagate it around the world.Al-Shoraifi also touched on the impact of Imam Sadeq’s (AS) discussions regarding Irfan on followers of different Islamic sects particularly Sunni Muslims adding that: “A large number of prominent Sunni intellectuals benefited from the Imam’s (AS) classes and he was a great teacher for the followers of all Islamic sects.”.He further warned of attempts for creation of disunity and religious rift among the followers of different Islamic sects stressing that separation from the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) are the main reasons behind this discord.Citing verse 9 of Surah Al-Isra’ the translation of which reads: “Verily, this Quran guides to that which is most just and right and gives glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah and His Messenger, Muhammad (PBUH) , etc.). who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a great reward (Paradise)”, he reiterated that all Muslims ought to resort to the teachings of the Holy Quran and maintain their unity urging Muslim to lay aside their differences and act upon the teachings of the Divine Book.Elsewhere in his remarks, he described Imam Sadeq’s (AS) students as the forerunners of the Islamic Ummah who sought to guide the followers to the right path emphasized by the Holy Prophet (PBUH).The Suuni scholar said that in time of Imam Sadeq (AS) there were a handful of people who attempted to oppose Imam Sadeq’s (AS) school of thought whose efforts came in vain as the Imam (AS) always answered their questions by referring to the verses of the Holy Quran.He said that the Imam (AS) made great contributions regarding the eradication of racism and royal superiority stressing that he regarded piety as the basis of man’s superiority.Sheikh Faleh Al-Shoraifi concluded that the Imam (AS) never supported any attempt for avenging the blood of Imam Hussein (AS) for he believed Imam Hossein (AS) rose up against unjust rulers for reviving the Islamic values not shedding blood. /129
