(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The eight-point statement was read out by Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi during the closing session of the NAM ministerial talks late on Wednesday.
During the two-day ministerial meetings, participants adopted a solidarity document on Palestine. The plan focuses an effective response to Israeli violations of international law, promotion of the Palestinian UN membership, and supporting Palestinian reconciliation.
The NAM ministers also agreed to form a special Palestine taskforce at the United Nations.
On the unrest in Syria, the participants discussed proposals on how to end violence in the country.
Speaking after the meeting, Salehi reiterated Iran's stance on Syria and that Tehran strongly opposes any foreign intervention in the country.
The Iranian official also criticized some states for interfering in Syria’s internal affairs and fueling the deadly unrest which has been plaguing the country since March 2011.
More than 100 countries are partaking in the NAM meeting which kicked off at the expert level in Tehran on Sunday.
Fighting poverty and racism, promotion of peace, democratic reforms in the UN General Assembly, and the need for a world free of nuclear weapons are some of the issues at the top of the agenda for the Tehran talks.
The 120-member Non-Aligned Movement constitutes nearly two thirds of the United Nations.
