(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The woman who blew herself up, killing herself and seven other people, including well-known religious figure sheikh Said al-Chirkavi, has been identified, the Dagestan Interior Ministry said.
She is a 30-year-old resident of Makhachkala, Aminat Kurbanova (Saprykina) who entered the sheikh's house disguised as a visitor and perpetrated the attack, the ministry said on its website.
The power of the explosive device attached to her body was equivalent to around 1.5 kilograms of TNT. The bomb was filled with bearing balls as shrapnel.
The explosion killed the terrorist, sheikh Said al-Chirkavi and six visitors.
A criminal inquiry has been launched under the Russian Criminal Code Article 205 (terror attack), Article 105 part two (the killing of two and more persons), Article 222 (illicit arms trafficking), Article 223 (illicit manufacture of a weapon, ammunition and explosive devices) and Article 167 (intentional damage to property).
Sheikh Said was buried at a local cemetery on the same day.
