(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, marking the martyrdom anniversary of Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari, who was a great Iranian scholar, cleric, and university professor, hundreds of teachers from across the country met with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in Tehran on Wednesday.

“On Friday, the Iranian nation will once again show their exemplary vigilance, insight, and sense of timing through their presence on the scene,” the Leader said in an address to thousands of teachers from across the country at a meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, held to commemorate National Teachers’ Day, which fell on May 1 this year.

He also said, “The Iranian nation has always done their duty vigilantly and timely. The high and glorious turnout for the first round of the parliamentary election in Esfand (the Iranian calendar month which fell between February 20 and March 19) was a remarkable example of this.”

“In the current situation in the world, nations should vigilantly be on the scene and demonstrate their potential in order to achieve success,” he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader highlighted the role of teachers in building a society which is founded on human virtues, science, and knowledge.
