(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Ali-Akbar Velayati, senior adviser to Iran's supreme leader, Imam Khamenei, told a news conference that Turkey's model of "secular Islam" was a version of western liberal democracy and unacceptable for countries that is going what he said "Islamic awakening," Financial Times reported Tuesday.
Velayati's remarks came on a day when Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called his Iranian counterpart, Ali Akbar Salehi. Salehi reportedly told Davutoglu that the statements are not Iran's official position.
