Iran: Int’l Holy Quran Conference Planned

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Islamic Azad University, Mashhad Branch, plans to organize an international Holy Quran conference next year.  This was announced on Thursday, November 16, by Abdol-Majid Helmi, rector of the Mashhad Islamic Azad University.  He was speaking at a forum held in the university with the title of “New Ideas Analyzed by Quranic Criteria”.  He said the conference would be aimed at promoting the fact that the Quran is capable of answering all social and human challenges.  Elsewhere in his speech, Mr. Helmi stressed the role of spiritual values in economic progress and development.  He said spiritual values are manifested in Taqwa (God-consciousness) and that when man internalizes these values they would help him in his progress.  He went on to say that worshiping God plays a significant part in the development of human society./129
