(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The scuffles took place after police officers released a driver responsible for driving into a crowd of protesters.
Lt. Christopher Micciche says the driver was simply not cited because he had a green light when his vehicle struck three protesters late Friday.
Micciche told reporters that the protesters had "either run toward or jumped in front of the moving vehicle."
However, according to protester Jesse Folks, 29, the car drove towards the protesters without giving them a chance to get out of his path.
The incident has left two people injured.
The “Occupy” movement emerged after a group of Americans on September 17 gathered in New York's financial district to protest against the unjust distribution of wealth in the US and the excessive influence of big corporations on the American politics.
Despite mass arrests and widespread police crackdown, the movement has now spread to major US cities, as well as to other countries, including Australia, Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and Portugal.
