(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A group of Journalism Faculty students from Utrecht university in Netherlands visited Qatar Islamic cultural centre (FANAR) which functions under D’awa and religious teaching at the Endowment and Islamic Affairs Ministry. The visit had a great influence on the visitors especially since they did not know much about Islam and Islamic culture. Khalil Aitblal co-ordinator of students activities at Utrecht university, said that this programme allows students to learn more about others in the Middle East. They toured FANAR, which included Majles or the heritage hall and the main hall of FANAR that present many aspects about Islam and Islamic culture as well as FANAR mosque and institute of education and qualification. Aitbilal said they very impressed by what they learned from FANAR. They have also became curious about Islam and are trying to understand more. Now, they even talk more positively about Islam. “They entered the mosque and saw prayers and Muslims while they were performing it,” Aitbilal added. Mikki Hew, one of the students, said that it was a lovely and informative visit. Milica, another student, said that she was impressed by FANAR and very happy to visit and learn. Yanka, also a student, added that she is interested in the Arabic language and she was impressed by the teaching of Arabic in FANAR. Abd Allah Mohamad Almulla, head of FANAR said that: FANAR welcomes these visits which improve understanding of Islamic culture. “This visit means a lot to us because of journalism’s role in building stereotypes around the world. We hope that these visits improve the understanding of Islam in the West,” he said./129
