Oklahoma Christian University to host lectures entitled "Understanding Islam in Today’s World"

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Graduate School of Theology at Oklahoma Christian University is hosting a series of five lectures entitled “Understanding Islam in Today’s World.” OC missions professor Robert Carpenter will speak at the first four sessions. They include “Islamic Beliefs and Practices” tonight; “Islam and the West” on Oct. 25; “Three Faiths, One God?” on Nov. 1; and “Christ and the Qur’an” on Nov. 8. The final lecture in the series which will take place Nov. 15, and it will be given by Imad Enchassi, Imam of the al-Nasr Mosque in Oklahoma City. The title of his lecture is “Constructive Effects of 9/11 on the Muslim Community in the USA.” All lectures are open to the public and are free of charge. Each lecture will begin at 8 p.m. and will take place in Room 124 of the Williams-Branch Center for Biblical Studies on the campus of Oklahoma Christian. These lectures are part of Carpenter’s class on non-Christian religions. Carpenter holds a doctorate from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish. Carpenter and his wife served 10 years as missionaries in Brasilia, Brazil. He has also been involved in short-term mission projects in other cities in Brazil, in St. Petersburg, Russia and in Antalya, Turkey./129
