Al-Hassan Wa Al-Hussein Serial Instigates Sectarian Sedition

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The purpose behind the production of the Al-Hassan Wa Al-Hussein Serial is instigating sectarian and religious discord and sedition.  This is according to Salim Al-Jaburi, director of Ma’aref Radio in the holy city of Najaf speaking to IQNA about the controversial series which is aired on some satellite TV networks.  He said the director, cast and distributers of the serial are responsible for the possible consequences of airing the insulting work.  “There should be special care and consideration when it comes to making serials which feature the life of the infallible (AS). Thus, the director and even the cast of such serials have a critical responsibility,” he remarked.  Head of the committee for commemorating Imam Khomeini (RA) in Najaf added that those who play the role of the infallible Imams (AS) should have firm belief in Islamic concepts and values.  He referred to the historical and religious series produced in the Islamic Republic of Iran, such as “Imam Ali (AS)”, “Velayat-e Eshgh” (featuring Imam Reza’s (AS) life), and “Prophet Joseph (AS)”, as valuable models for countries which seek to produce such serials.  Al-Jaburi stressed that airing the Al-Hassan Wa Al-Hussein Serial might have serious outcomes such as creating discord among followers of different Islamic schools of thought.  He also rejected the need for portrayal of the infallible Imams (AS) in religious serials and said, “Shi’ites disapprove of this and there is no reason for claiming that refusing to portray the characters in a religious movie would undermine its quality. This claim has clearly been shown to be wrong in the Iranian serial “Imam Reza (AS)” which properly conveys the message and reaches its objective without portraying the Imam (AS).”/129
