(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Hebrew Maariv newspaper revealed on Sunday that there Zionist attempts to confiscate 4 dunums (1dunum= 1000 square meters) in east Jerusalem suburb of Sheikh Jarrah, near the so called “Shimon HaTzadik”, to use the area as a car park for Zionist settlers.
The tomb of “Shimon HaTzadik” is a shrine which local residents used to call Sheikh Sa’adi Shrine before settlers took control of it and gave it the name “Shimon HaTzadik” claiming that it was the tomb of Simon the Just.
The Paper said that a comprehensive plan was made by the settlers in the area and aims to develop the area around the tomb to make it into a place of pilgrimage.
The paper added that such a move could cause another storm similar to the one caused by the demolition of the Shepherd hotel in the same suburb to build a settlement in its place.
The Palestinian owner of the land, Obeidat, said that notices for evacuation were posted on skips and that he told the settlers that the land was private and he could convert it into a pay car park for everyone, he was told that the land was public. He then said its seems they want to build a car park exclusively for settlers.
