(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Khoja Shia World Federation’s Ramadhan Relief Programme is well underway in Mumbai. This year we distributed food parcels to families, and provided cash to widows.
Mumbai is a prosperous Indian city; however the difference between living standards of the rich and the poor is clearly evident. The poorest people in Mumbai live in cramped conditions, struggling to make ends meet each month.
Mumbai has a large Khoja Jamaat and there are a lot of Shias in here who living in extreme poverty. This year, The World Federation through its Ramadhan Relief program is alleviating their sufferings by providing food parcels containing daily cooking essentials to these families.
The food parcels distributed in Mumbai contain staple items like rice, wheat, dal, sugar, sunflower oil, tea, and other essential food items. These parcels allow parents to provide sufficient food during the month of Ramadhan for their children, and allow families to feed their elderly.

Ramadhan is a time to think about the sufferings of our community members around the world, and the Ramadhan Relief program allows us to help our brothers and sisters. This year the Ramadhan Relief program also provided widows with cash to support them during the Month of Ramadhan.
Supporting those who would otherwise struggle is our duty, and Shia widows in Mumbai have no one to provide for them and their suffering is compounded by health issues, old age and the loss of their loved ones.
The World Federation’s Ramadhan Relief fund is a great way for us to support our community in Mumbai; let’s all make an effort to do more for our community. Every night in Ramadhan we recite Allahuma Ruda Kulla Gharib, let’s all try with the Grace of the Almighty (SWT) to achieve this in Mumbai.
