(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Addressing a conference on the Qur'an held in Tehran on Saturday, President Ahmadinejad paid tribute to all the people who make efforts to promote Qur'anic culture, the official website of the president reported.
A number of Qur'an scholars were awarded plaques of honor during the conference.
Ahmadinejad emphasized the important role of the Qur'an in life, saying that all the people in the world can live in peace and prosperity in an ideal society by following the teachings of the Holy Qur'an.
Iranian lawmakers recently approved a bill, according to which Iranians who memorize the entire Holy Qur'an will be provided with free education.
In other Qur'an news, a new Persian translation of the Holy Qur'an by Iranian scholar Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel was unveiled during a ceremony held last week at the 19th International Holy Qur'an Exhibition, which is currently underway in Tehran at the Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Grounds.
In addition, a new calligraphy artwork of the longest chapter of the Holy Qur'an, Sura Baqarah, created by veteran Iranian artist Mohammad Salahshour, was unveiled in Tehran last week.
