The United Nations says that unprecedented famine and drought in Somalia is threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of children.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The UN representative to Somalia says that more than half a million malnourished children in the Horn of Africa risk imminent death.

The world body also says a quarter of Somalia's 7.5 million people have been displaced.

Hundreds of thousands of Somalis have fled their homes to nearby UN camps in search of food.

Meanwhile, Iran has sent a second humanitarian aid convoy to drought-stricken Somalia. Iran's foreign minister says his country also plans to donate 25-million dollars to help with relief efforts.
