(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The new calligraphy that inscribes Qur'an's longest chapter, Sura Baqarah, was presented during a ceremony at the Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran on Monday.
Salahshour stated that the calligraphy of the entire Qur'an, which comprises of 605 pages, would be published, hopefully during the month of Ramadan, after making a few modifications.
“Inscribed in Persian Calligraphy style (Nastaliq), the new unveiled work weighs about 100 kg. The other chapters of Qur'an would weigh about 120kg and will be over 1 meter in width,” IRNA quoted Salahshour as saying.
The weight is only calculated for the verses and not the Persian translation, he added, stressing that one of his students, Ardavan Etemadi, has collaborated with him in creating the illumination and miniatures for this work.
"In view of the fact that I would not be able to keep this great work at home, I am looking forward to have it kept in cultural foundation and organizations. Through staging a permanent exhibition, this treasure can always be showcased for public visiting,” Salahshour said.
“Inscripting Hafez poems, based on special topics like spring, nature, God and love, in nastaliq style is my next project,” he added.
Salahshour has already inscribed selected words from Imam Ali's (AS) Nahj al-Balagha, as well as the lyrics of several poets such as Hafez, Khayyam, Sa'adi, Baba Taher and Saeb Tabrizi.
