(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - It said in a statement on Thursday that the doctors decided to halt their strike on 19/7/2011 after the personal intervention of de facto PA chief Mahmoud Abbas.
The syndicate noted that an agreement was reached with the government on the new scale of salaries but the government retracted its approval prompting the doctors to strike anew.
It described the government’s step as “unethical, illegal and has no financial justification”, adding that it was the result of continued incitement against the doctors on the part of the health minister.
The syndicate said that only emergency surgeries would be performed as of next Sunday and a sole doctor in each clinic or hospital would head to his work for emergency cases, adding that a demonstration would be organized next Wednesday to the health ministry in Ramallah demanding the dismissal of minister Fathi Abu Mughli.
