(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Ra’ad Adnan Al-Nasseri, director of the Dar-ol-Quran Al-Kareem Institute in the city of Nasseria, Iraq, told the plan’s organizers aim to showcase the unity and amity between Shia and Sunni Muslims by involving followers of all Islamic schools of thought in the activities and programs of the plan.
He stressed that Shiites living in the holy city of Najaf have a friendly relationship with the Sunnis as well as Christians, and Druzis of the city. “Those implementing the plan seek to show to the world that Shiites have always been seeking to uphold peace, friendship and brotherhood among people.”
Al-Nasseri said that Najaf has a great history and the mausoleum of Imam Ali (AS) has always been a source of blessings for the city. “Also, Najaf’s seminary has had an important status in terms of developing Islamic sciences and expanding Islamic culture and civilization.”
He said in order for implementing the “Najaf, 2012 Cultural Capital of the Islamic World” plan, the Astan-e Imam Ali (AS) has arranged various cultural, Islamic, and Quranic programs. “Also, the Islamic University of Najaf is holding special foreign language courses for those involved in implementing the plan.”
