In green paint the word the slogan boldly read “Russia for Russians!!!” implying that Muslims were outsiders and not welcome in the country. Apparently, this was to intimidate the Muslims of Berezovsky.
Imam of the mosque mosque Radifulla Gindullin, spoke out about the incident, saying he wonders why people found such actions necessary.
“The city has always been a friendly atmosphere, has never been ethnic conflict besides a couple of cases where in the territory of the mosque, people threw bottles - but it was just vandalism. What happened in the night from Thursday to Friday is very serious. We are extremely concerned by what has happened.”
The carers of the mosque intend to appeal to the police, city administration and the Department for Combating Extremism.
Muslims hope that the police find those responsible and punish them with respect to the 282 Criminal Code (incitement to hatred or enmity on grounds of nationality, religion or relationships).
