His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, welcomed the words of Sheikh Al-Azhar which dealt with the core of the issue, trying to circumvent the scheme aimed at inciting strife between the Sunnis and the Shiites

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Commenting on the statement issued by Sheikh Al-Azhar, His Eminence, Sheikh Ahmad At-Tayyib, His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, saw that this statement came out at a time the super powers are seeking to divide the children of the one Islamic nation and deepen the differences between them, as a result of hostile policies at times, and backward ones at others. Thus, this statement came to consecrate the efforts exerted to unite the ranks in the nation so as to rebuild our societies, in a way that solidifies the joint points on a strong foundation, and to block the road before all those trying to benefit from the unfavorable situations, and to redirect the Islamic compass towards the direction of its unity and the unity of its history, present and future…

His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, welcomed the words of Sheikh Al-Azhar which dealt with the core of the issue, trying to circumvent the scheme aimed at inciting strife between the Sunnis and the Shiites, for he said: We pray behind the Shiites, and there is no difference between the Sunnis and Shiites that would turn the latter un-Islamic. He also announced that Al-Azhar will receive Muslim Shiite students in its colleges and institutes.

He also described the statement of Sheikh Al-Azhar as being a courageous unifying stand that is concerned for the nation's unity between the Shiites and Sunnis, and he noted that its timing and content came out to relieve the seekers of Muslim unity and all those aiming to bring the nation together and circumvent the international Zionist schemes aiming to incite differences between the Muslims by deepening the gap between them, as well as the points of difference, and ignoring the several points that join them and the lurking danger.

His Eminence called on all the Islamic religious authorities in the world, be they Sunnis or Shiites, to join the sincere unifying Islamic call of Al-Azhar so that the entire nation would voice the same call and stand. This would constitute a message to all the enemies and forces of backwardness, exaggeration, myth and division, which says that the decision of the nation to solidify and preserve its unity is a single and unified decision, no matter how storms blow and circumstances get complicated…

His Eminence ended, saying: The Muslims are but one nation, as Allah wanted them to be; a nation that embodies such diversity and strengthens itself by it, making it impregnable once it realizes how to unite and turn its disagreements into opinions and points of view, instead of being a reason for fighting and entering into conflicts…
