(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “Plans still exist to divide the country, and those behind such plans, aimed at calling for extending the presence of the (U.S.) occupation forces in the country, after the end of the period of their presence,” the statement stated.
The Strategic Treaty, signed between Iraq and the United States, had announced that the remaining U.S. forces would withdraw from Iraq at the end of the current year.
It said that “Iraq is passing through a serious phase nowadays, necessitating the unification of positions and the uncovering of all weak, disable elements and plotters.”
“Our people have suffered a lot of difficulties and problems, caused by the occupation, including sectarianism and racism, and the destruction of the country’s infrastructure, the plundering of its funds, spread of administrative and financial corruption, along with the killings and forcing people to leave their home places and other crimes, all those developments, caused by the hateful occupation,” the statement stressed.
The statement said: “We, in the Iraqi Islamic Party, warn the political forces, sharing in the political process, against undermining the unified national position, rejecting the extension of the presence of the occupation forces, and the talk taking place in dark rooms, under any justification, that is a great mistake against Iraq and its people.”
“We, stemming from our belief in Allah and our trust in Him, depend on the vigilance of our people, their unity and steadfastness, to reject the current distorted image of the status-quo in Iraq, that shall end up with the end of its reasons,” the statement stressed.
In conclusion, the statement called on the Iraqi political forces to uncover their real position for the people, reiterating the Islamic Party’s “rejection for the extension of the presence of the U.S. occupation forces in Iraq,” demanding all other parties to announce their clear and frank position towards that.
