(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Egyptian Quran reciter and master Farajullah Shazli said that Sheikh Shoaisha was distinguished by his voice and his creative style.
“His recitation would elevate the listener’s soul to a world of light and spirituality,” Shazli observed.
He noted that Shoaisha started reciting the Quran in his youth and continued to recite the Holy Book until his demise at the age of 90.
“He was popular both in Egypt and abroad. He would be invited to all Quranic events and competitions. He attended the International Quran Competition for Muslim Students in Iran in January and was warmly welcomed by the Iranian people.”
According to Mr. Shazli, who is an academic board member of Al-Azahr University in Cairo, Shoaisha’s exceptional recitation was equal in beauty to recitations by masters like Sheikh Muhammad Raf’at, Sheikh Abdul Basit Abd us-Samad, Sheikh Mustafa Esmaeel and Sheikh Ali Mahmud.
Referring to the character of the late Quran reciter, Shazli said he had a character and was popular until his death. “He would be warmly received everywhere he went.”
Asked about the absence of Egyptian government officials in the memorial service for Master Shoaisha, he said Shoaisha was so popular among the people, his faith in God was so powerful that he had no need to officials and leaders. “While government officials were absent in his funeral, a great number of men, women and youth took part in a ceremony held in his commemoration on Friday at a mosque in Cairo.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Shazli pointed to news about appointment of Mahmud Tablawi as new secretary general of Egypt’s Union of Quran reciters and Memorizers and said no one has yet been selected as Master Shoaisha’s successor. “The union’s administrative council plans to organize a meeting in the near future, probably in July, to select its new secretary general.”
