(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Foreign Ministry's Director General for Iranian Expatriates' Affairs Hamid-Reza Shakeri said on Monday evening
“The Foreign Ministry's note to the Swiss Embassy, which is the seventh note about the Iranian national imprisoned in the US, Ms. Shahrzad Mir-Qolikhan, was delivered to the embassy today.”
In the letter, the Foreign Ministry demanded that the US grants Iran's interests section in Washington access to Mir-Qolikhan and facilitate the issuance of visas for her family.
Shakeri added that the Foreign Ministry has once again stressed the innocence of Mir-Qolikhan and called for her immediate release.
Mir-Qolikhan was arrested in the US in 2007 after being forced to return to America from a vacation in Cyprus.
Her former husband, Mahmoud Seif, had allegedly tried to export night-vision goggles to Iran from Austria.
However, she was detained and sentenced to five years in prison by a Florida federal court in the absence of her husband. Mir-Qolikhan has now been in prison for nearly 3 years.
