(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The fourth international forum on “Islam, religion of peace and friendship” was held on May 25-26 paying homage to Ahmad Haji Qadirov, the first president of the Republic of Chechnya.
According to Islamsng, the forum was attended by representatives of various religions, eminent scholars and clerics from more than 30 countries including Jordan, Indonesia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Philippine, Chad, Austria, Germany, Croatia, Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Ukraine.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the program, Ramadan Qadirov, president of the country stated that the presence of religious, scientific and political figures at the annual forum reveals the increasing importance of the issue.
“Violence, animosity and arrogance are considered as meaningless, and thus inadvisable in Islam, which invites all of us to peace, friendship and mutual understanding,” he said.
As the speaker of the second day of the forum, Soltan Mirzayov, head of the Office for Muslims Affairs in Chechnya , talked about the spread of Islam in Russia, and Muslim life in this country stressing that violation of Muslims rights in Russia is a baseless claim.
"Today there is a mutual understanding between Russia’s government and the followers of religious minorities," he said.
For his part, Sheikh-ul-islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office, appreciated efforts made to defend Islam adding that the steps taken to associate Islam with terrorism and intolerance will be left ineffective.
