(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Former Minister of Intelligence said the late Imam Khomeini (RA) regarded unity as a continuous strategy for Muslim nations if they seek to grow and elevate themselves and achieve victory over the enemies.

Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Yunesi was speaking in an interview with the Committee for Organizing Ceremonies Marking Imam Khomeini’s (RA) Demise Anniversary.

He stressed that the late Imam had selected unity as a strategy. “There are some who favor unity as long as it is in their interest and abandon it when it is no longer in their interest. But Imam regarded unity as the path towards Muslims’ salvation and would always urge followers of all sects to move towards unity.”

Citing an example, former Intelligence Minister said the late Imam regarded defending the Palestinian people as a duty of Muslims regardless of their being Shia or Sunni.

“Not only did Imam Khomeini consider unity a requirement for defeating the enemies, he believed that unity is also needed for the time of peace,” he observed.

Hojat-ol-Islam Yunesi stressed that the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran was kind to everyone even his opponents. “He would not allow any injustice done to them,” he went on to say.

June 4 marks the demise anniversary of Imam Khomeini (RA). Every year a huge ceremony is held on the occasion at the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini (RA)in southern Tehran. Commemoration ceremonies are also organized in other cities in the country and elsewhere in the world.
