(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Providing Quranic education to 19,000 students was among the activities of grand Ayatollah Golpayegani, said one of the late scholar’s sons.

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Mohammad Baqer Golpayegani said this was achieved by his father during the reign of the Pahlavi regime when there was no Quranic education in schools.

“In an innovative program, the grand Ayatollah taught the Quran to students in 25 one-hour sessions.”

Hojat-ol-Islam Golpayegani said his father established the Dar-ol-Quran at Qom’s seminary and published the Baghdadi Quran edition which was distributed among pilgrims during the Hajj. “This helped to refute accusations against Shiites including the accusation that Shiites have a different Quran from other Muslims.

“The grand source of emulation also founded House of Scholar (Khane Alim) in all the provinces.”

He said grand Ayatollah Golpayegani moved ahead of the society and was aware of the latest developments.
