(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The software was unveiled on Sunday during the International Book Fair currently held in the capital Tehran.
The ceremony was attended by Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel, chairman of the Iranian parliament's Cultural Commission, as well as other members of the committee and Mansour Vaezi, general manager of the Public Libraries Foundation.
The “Persian Gulf” is among the 110 software the Public Libraries Foundation has made, said Mohammadreza Kashani, a member of the team which made the software.
The user-friendly software comprises 900 complete articles about the history, geography, culture, biology and politics of the Persian Gulf, he added.
Iran designated April 30 as the national Persian Gulf Day to highlight the fact that the waterway has been referred to by historians and ancient texts as “Persian” since the Achaemenid Empire was established in what is now modern day Iran.
National Persian Gulf Day marks the anniversary of the expulsion of Portuguese military forces from the Strait of Hormoz in 1622, during the reign of Safavid king Shah Abbas I (1587-1629).
