(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Messages circulating on Facebook and the other sites calls the three men "traitors" and "heads of sedition and incitement" — and calls for them to be "killed and liquidated," said Rupert Colville, a spokesman for the U.N. Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The three being targeted are Mohammed Al Masqati, president of the Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights; Naji Fateel, another member of the society; and Abdulhadi Alkhawaja, a former director at Frontline Defenders, Colville said.
Included with the messages aimed at inciting people to kill the three activists is detailed information about how to track the men, including their names, identification card numbers, home and work addresses, home telephone numbers, and even the makes, models, year and registration plate of their cars. The messages also provide ID card photos of the men.
Colville said the U.N. is extremely concerned about these threats "which clearly constitute incitement" and is calling on authorities in Bahrain to protect the human rights activists.
