The copy, which has unique features, had been unveiled on December 4, 2010, in a ceremony in Tehran.
It weighs 10 kilograms and measures 15 by 35 by 45 centimeters. The verses have been carved in wood and different scripts including Naskh, Sols, and Nasta’liq have been used in making this work of art.
Master Mohsen Fuladi, designer and producer of the work told IQNA that 7 Iranian arts including Soukhteh Kari (creating burning patterns on wood), Moshabak (the art of forming metal into nets), stone engraving, Monabbat (wood carving) and carpet weaving.
“Through creating such artworks we can encourage the youth to read the Divine Book,” he added.
The “Moshaf-e Zarrin” copy of the Quran has been registered at the Iranian National Library as well as the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. There are also plans to register it in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Quranic handicrafts exhibition has been mounted at the Culture and Art Treasure House in the city of Yazd’s Khan Square. It will be underway until April 4.
