(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The fifth Islamic Conference on Astronomy will be held on March 22, Moheet website reports.
It will be organized by the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences (AUASS) in cooperation with the International University of Islamic Sciences in Amman, Jordan.
Scientific groups from various Islamic and Arab countries will take part at the three-day conference in which over 50 researches will be presented.
It aims to investigate the important achievements regarding the methods for determining specific times for religious performances based on sighting the moon from the earth.
Awni Al-Khasawneh, director general of the union said researches conducted by Muslim scholars and Jordanian astronomers will be discussed at the conference and papers will be presented on the problems in the way of sighting the moon in some parts of the earth.
The Amman-based union was officially founded in 1998 with the aim of promoting astronomical sciences and identifying the status of Islamic researches in this field.
