Iran's Envoy to Ashgabat Mohammad Moussa Hashemi Golpaigani said that the remarks by Turkmen president came at a meeting with Iranian Vice-President Hamid Baqayee, who is also the Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.
The Iranian diplomat added that Berdimuhamedow also said that he always supports Iran's nuclear right when he meets with different world leaders and officials.
"The Turkmen president also stressed that Iran's program to achieve nuclear technologies is just for peaceful purposes," Golpaigani noted.
He added that the two officials further discussed expansion of cooperation in cultural and tourism fields as well.
Golpaigani said that the Iranian vice-president, for his part, voiced Iran's willingness to boost and expand all-out ties with Turkmenistan in different arenas, including scientific and cultural fields.
Iranian and Turkmen officials have in their recent meetings agreed to boost gas cooperation between the two countries after launching a new joint gas pipeline project which is due to increase Iran's gas imports from the Central Asian state.
Also, late in November, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Turkmen counterpart inaugurated the last section of the 1.2-billion-dollar pipeline.
The 1024-km-pipeline has a daily capacity of 50 mcm. The 48-inch diameter pipeline allows Iran to swap Turkmen gas to other countries.
The first phase of the pipeline came on stream in January 2010 to deliver gas from Turkmenistan's Dauletabad field to Iran's Khangiran refinery.
The second pipeline which passes through Dauletabad, Sarakhs and Khangiran regions was constructed after Iran felt extensive problems in supplying gas to its Northern parts.
