On December 15, terrorists targeted a mourning procession marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of the third Shia Imam Hussein (PBUH) near a mosque in the port city of Chabahar in Sistan-Baluchestan Province.
“The enemies cannot stand to see the solidarity and valor of the Muslim world and they fear Islamic unity and the lesson the Ashura uprising teaches us,” Imam Khamenei said in a message read out by Hojjatoleslam Mohsen Qomi at the funeral held for the victims of the terrorist attack on Friday, IRNA reported.
The Leader highlighted that the Iranian nation sees through enemy schemes and are well aware that the global arrogance intends to prevent the Muslim world from progress.
Imam Khamenei noted how the West is struggling to smother the country's uranium enrichment efforts through threats and baseless accusations, and described the confrontation as a battle between Islam and its enemies.
At least 33 people lost their lives in a massive bombing attack which also left dozens of others wounded.
Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar, his deputy Ali Abdollahi, Presidential Advisor Masoud Zaribafan and senior lawmaker Ali Asghar Zarei were members of a ranking delegation attending the funeral of the victims of the Chabahar attack.
Iranian authorities have reportedly arrested a number of suspects in connection with the Wednesday attack and have vowed to track down the rest of the perpetrators and masterminds of the terrorist act.
