(AhlulBayt News Agency) - A Shia-Sunni coordination committee to promote unity among Muslims and ensure the smooth conduct of Muharram programs met in central Srinagar under the JKLF chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, on Tuesday.
Representatives of the Jama’at-e-Islami, Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, Awami Action Committee, Anjuman-e-Shara’ee, Shiayan, National Peoples Party and Muslim League were among those who attended the meeting.
The panel made a forceful appeal to the Muslim community in Kashmir to maintain unity and amity, and to refrain from acts that encourage nefarious elements in their unholy designs.
It appealed to clerics of both sects to stress on unity during their sermons.
