The 7th edition of the UAE National Quran Contest of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award is set to start next week with 18 participants.

DUBAI (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The 7th edition of the UAE National Quran Contest of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award is set to start next week with 18 participants.

The competition, which is only open for Emiratis of any age, will see the participation of eight males and 10 females.

The contestants, who must memorise the Holy Quran in full, will be tested at the award head office in Al Twar Centre – Al Qusais.  The competition for male contestants will be held on Sunday and females will be on Monday at 4pm. Ahmed Sager Al Suwaidi, Head of the Competitions Unit, said the winners will be presented valuable prizes. “The top ten winners shall be granted a prize money of Dh20,000, on condition that they obtain at least 70 per cent of the total marks.”

Ibrahim Bu Melha, Chairman of the organising committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, said the contest is aimed to motivate and honour UAE nationals of both sexes to learn the Holy Quran by heart.
