BEIRUT (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc president Mohammed Raad said Sunday that Israel was acting in cahoots with the UN when it announced it would pull its army out of the southern Lebanon village of Ghajar to make it appear as if Israel implemented UN resolution 1701.

Raad, speaking at a memorial service in the region, said: “What the Zionist enemy is doing in conspiracy with the United Nations and its secretary general is a maneuver and trick intended to issue a decision through its masters in the security council stating that it completely withdrew from the Lebanese territory.”

“The withdrawal is incomplete because it does not restore the sovereignty to our land,” Raad added.

“Sovereignty is restored in the land when the Lebanese army is able to enter the liberated zone.”

No official position was released by Lebanon after Israel announced it would withdraw its military from Ghajar, and no date was specified for the removal.

The Israeli government approved Wednesday a plan to remove its soldiers from the northern half of the disputed village of Ghajar, located on the Lebanese border, and hand control over it to UN peacekeeping forces deployed in south Lebanon.
