A religious advisor to the Iranian president on Saturday praised the religious edict (fatwa) recently issued by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Seyed Ali Khamenei, in which he strongly prohibited insulting the values and sanctities of other religious sects.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - "If it weren't for the wise fatwa of the Supreme Leader on the necessity of avoiding insult to the sanctities of other sectors, the Islamic Ummah would be entangled in a new plot which could not be controlled easily," President Ahmadinejad's advisor for Sunni affairs Mowlavi Eshaq Madani said.

He called on the Muslims worldwide to take the opportunity presented by the leader's fatwa and enhance solidarity and unity among all the different Muslim faiths.

"Islam's power, greatness and grandeur will be shown to the world once there is unity among Islamic nations," Madani noted.

"Muslims, including Sunnis and Shias and other Islamic sects are facing common enemies. Therefore, they should stick with unity and solidarity in a bid to gain victory over them," he noted.

Earlier this month, Imam Khamenei in response to a question asked by one of his religious followers announced: "Insulting the symbols of the Sunni brothers, including the Prophet Muhammad's wife (Aisha) is forbidden. This includes the women of all prophets and especially the holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)."

The fatwa was widely welcomed in the Islamic World.

Imam Khamenei has repeatedly called on Islamic countries to keep vigilant about U.S. and Zionist plots, warning that enemies of Islam are seeking to sow discord among Muslims.

"Whenever Muslims come close to each other, the American and Zionist agents lurk to create a rift among them through different religious, ethnic, sectarian excuses and other pretexts," Imam Khamenei said in remarks earlier this month.

The Leader cautioned that colonial powers are making vigorous attempts to find the weak points of the Muslims and infiltrate the Islamic world, and described unity as the serious need of Muslims to encounter enemies' plots.

Imam Khamenei urged Muslim countries to keep vigilant against enemies' plots and conspiracies, and added, "Otherwise, Islam will be hit by the arrogant enemies."

"The Muslim nations and governments should vigilantly understand the deeply-rooted need of the Muslim world for understanding, sympathy and cooperation, and remain committed and loyal to the means and requirements of unity," Imam Khamenei stressed.

Imam Khamenei has repeatedly called on the worldwide Muslims to enhance unity and solidarity to defuse the enemies' plots.
