Moscow (AhlulBayt News Agency) - First vice chairman of the Central Muslim Spiritual Board Albir Krganov on behalf of Islam believers thanked former Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov for longstanding work.
"We should say "thank you" to Yury Mikhailovich for his work he conducted being the head of such a serious subject as the capital: it's our country's business card. We know that friendship among various peoples and religions, thanks to God, is preserved in Moscow," Krganov told an Interfax-Religion correspondent.
The mufti stressed that Luzhkov and his team did a lot in spiritual sphere.
"To much extent thanks to him, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior was built and the church complex: a church, a mosque and a synagogue appeared at the Poklonnaya Gora," he said.
The Central Muslim Board official wished a new city head to "keep this course" and considering multinational and multicultural character of the country and the capital further work to "make Moscow the most beautiful and convenient city to live in."
Referring to the recent protests against building mosque in Tekstilschiki the mufti expressed hope that a new city head will hold "a positive, effective and constructive dialogue" with religious organization so that decisions are taken "collegially" "for the welfare of our country."
