Ahlul Bayt News Agency ; Talking to Iran News Agency, Maulana Syed Jalal Haider Naqvi, President of Shaheed Mutahhari Society in New Delhi said : “Burning holy book of any religion is not correct. It is matter of utmost disappointment, shameful act in era of civilization. It is really an act of terrorism”.
The world community should condemn it in strongest term. The US government should act swiftly to stop this act of barbarism, said Jalal. Adding that Holy Quran is the verbal book of divine guidance and direction for mankind.
He was of the view that each religion, with its respective sacred books, places of worship and symbols, has the right to respect and protection. Deplorable acts of violence such as those of the 9/11 terrorist attacks could not be counteracted by burning Holy Quran, Shia Scholar added.
Terming it an 'outrageous and grave gesture, Jalal Haider urged Muslima as well as peace loving nations to pressurize the US government for stopping the sahemful act.
A pastor in the United States has threatened to burn copies of the Quran to mark the anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Besides the US authorities, religious leaders all over the world have also condemned his proposed action.
