According to Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), 150 individuals of different ages attend the course held in the mosque three days a week. The sessions begin after the Maghrib prayer and end before the Isha prayer.
The instructor is Sheikh Haji Maghsad a prominent Kyrgyz Muslim scholar. He has finished teaching the interpretation of Surah Al-Baqara and has begun the next Surah Al-e Imran.
Kyrgyzstan is a Central Asian country the majority of whose population (75 per cent) are Muslim. Islam was first introduced to the Kyrgyz tribes in the eighth century. Since the fall of communism in 1991, Islam has been increasingly taking root in Kyrgyzstan. Many new mosques have been built and the people are increasingly devoting themselves to the religion.
