Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani has said enemy's crimes against Iranians will never be forgotten or forgiven, promising a crushing punishment for the criminal enemy.
In his message on the martyrdom of the sailors of Destroyer Dena on Tuesday, Irani lauded the bravery of the staff on boardof the vessel, their epic presence around the world, raising Iran's flag, fighting maritime terrorism, and safeguarding the sea.
The enemy could not stand Iran’s Navy progress and targeted Navy forces thousands of kilometers away far from the war zone and against all international conventions, he added.
The attack was launched without any prior warning. According to official reports, over 100 crew members were killed in the strike.
Commander in chief of the Iranian Army Major General Amir Hatami said the killing of 104 crew members from Destroyer Dena will not go unanswered.
Analysts note that the joint US-Israeli invasion, which began on February 28, 2026, following the martyrdom of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, disregarded ongoing indirect negotiations. In response, Iran launched precise retaliatory strikes against Israeli positions and US bases, citing its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and warned that further escalation will invite a harsher reaction.
