AhlulBayt News Agency: Iran's Assembly of Experts has chosen Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei to serve as the third Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He is the son of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iran's second Leader, who was assassinated by the U.S. and Israel on February 28, 2026.
The decision was announced in a statement issued by the Assembly of Experts.
"After careful and extensive deliberations and drawing upon the authority granted under Article 108 of the Constitution, by the decisive vote of the honorable members of the Assembly of Experts, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (may God protect him) was appointed and introduced as the third Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the statement read.
"We pray to Almighty God for the continued grace and favor upon this country and its great people," it added.
