A delegation of senior Hamas officials has met with the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council in the Qatari capital to discuss the latest developments in the region, including the condition of the war-ravaged Gaza Strip.
In a statement cited by the Palestinian media on Wednesday, the resistance movement announced that Chairman of its Shura Council Muhammad Ismail Darwish, at the head of senior Hamas members, held talks with Ali Larijani in Doha.
According to the statement, the focus of the meeting was to review the situation in Gaza in the face of the continued Israeli attacks on the coastal strip amid international silence and inaction.
Presenting a report on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Darwish referred to Israeli violations of the ceasefire provisions, emphasizing that Hamas remained committed to implementing the agreement and preventing the resumption of war.
The head of the Hamas Shura Council also declared the movement’s solidarity with Iran and condemned any hostile action against the country, describing it as a factor in escalating tension and instability in the region.
Larijani, in turn, highlighted Iran’s internal developments and the ongoing negotiations with the United States, but said that the Islamic Republic remained steadfast in supporting the Palestinian cause.
